Block Mounting
Block Mounting
Block mounting is one of the most durable, cost-effective ways of displaying posters and the perfect fix to add some life to a boring bed room wall. It displays better, protects your poster and is a lot easier to hang.
As South Africa’s oldest Block Mounting company, we are able to offer one of the most durable, cost-effective ways of displaying posters, products, messages, instructions or any form of printed communication. These prints can be mounted using either a wet or dry process on 3, 6 or 12mm chip board and can be cut to any size up to 1.5m x 3.6 m. Block Mounts can be finished with plastic edging or “channel’ in a variety of colours to give it that extra special look and finish, but at a fraction of the cost of traditional framing. The Block Mounting Process
Although there are many variations, the Block Mounting process essentially consists of 3 steps.
- Graphic Preparation & Loading: Images are cleaned and checked for defects before loading onto substrate boards that have been prepared with glue or mounting tape.
- Vacuum Seal: Loaded boards are placed in a vacuum press and sealed. This ensures maximum adhesion between the image and the substrate, whilst removing any air bubbles. Soho has custom made vacuum presses that allow us to seal oversized and large block mounts.
- Trim & Finish: Mounted substrates are checked for bubbles and then excess edges are trimmed. If required, plastic edging or ‘Channel’ is applied to finish the block mount.
